Bed and Breakfasts in Whitehall, MichiganCountry Inns a Favorite for Guests to the White Lake Area
The small town of Whitehall welcomes many guests to the area every summer. A popular lodging choice for many visitors is one of the bed and breakfasts near the lake.
The city of Whitehall is just minutes from beautiful Lake Michigan. Consequently many visit the area for outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, biking, hiking and golfing; while others come to relax on the beach, or attend an outdoor concert or festival. No matter the reason for the visit, guests desiring to stay in the immediate Whitehall/Montague area will oftentimes opt for one of Whitehall's quaint bed and breakfasts. Although there are several in the area, a couple stand out as a cut above the rest. A Finch Nest Bed and Breakfast in Whitehall, MichiganSeveral years ago Helen and Andrew Fink moved to the Whitehall area from Connecticut. Shortly after, they purchased an historical home just a few blocks from White Lake with the hope of converting it into a bed and breakfast. After much renovation and restoration, the Finks opened A Finch Nest Bed and Breakfast. The inn has been wonderfully restored to its historical beauty. There are maple and oak floors throughout, a library/parlor with a fireplace, and a formal dining area. The Finks have also decorated the inn with Victorian furniture and added special touches such as a private garden and outdoor swing. Guests can choose from three guest rooms. Each room has a private bath with pedestal sink, whirlpool tub (one with a two person tub) and a separate shower. The rooms also provide many of the amenities of a hotel including terry cloth robes, cable television and internet access. Each room also has a VCR and DVD player. The Finks have built a library of books and movies that guests can borrow during their stay. Each morning guests awake to a wonderful breakfast prepared by the Finks. Some of the house specialties include frittatas, omelets, quiche and homemade pastries. The Finks are very courteous, friendly and quite sociable. Consequently, very private individuals may be uncomfortable staying in such an intimate and social environment. Room rates begin at $120/night. Cocoa Cottage Bed and Breakfast in Whitehall, MichiganBy its name, one might conclude that Cocoa Cottage is most known for the decadent chocolate served at the inn. As with Finch Nest, Cocoa Cottage has been a labor of love for its owners Larry and Lisa Robertson. Restoration on the home took nearly a decade, but the results are astonishing. The Robertson's have stayed true to the character of an arts & crafts home, but have added many wonderful modern amenities such as a state of the art kitchen. Cocoa Cottage is true to its theme of indulgence. Guests staying at the cottage can choose from four different room choices - the Cadbury Room, Godiva Room, Hershey Room and Ghirardelli Suite. Each room offers either a queen or king bed, private baths, decorative/cozy linens and turn down service with handmade chocolates. The inn has received several awards from Arrington's Inn Traveler Magazine including:
Chocolate is even on the menu at breakfast time. Some breakfast menu items include chocolate pastries and chocolate covered fruit, served along with breakfast staples like quiche, pancakes and egg custard. Room rates begin at $149/night.
