The entertainment at the 2009 Michigan Renaissance Festival is vast and varied. There is so much to do, it's hard to pick. Here are just two acts of the many to choose.

There is no doubt that there is a lot to do at the 2009 Michigan Renaissance Festival. There is lots of delicious food to try. There is endless shopping to do. Even people watching is fun. There are also many talented entertainers scattered about throughout the 17 acres on 16 stages, and throughout the grounds.

The Michigan Renaissance Festival is lucky to have a solid group of entertainers that return every year. Many of them have been there well over a ten years. The Washing Well Wenches are so popular they even have their stage. Let’s take a look at two of the acts a little closer.

The Adventures of Robin Hood

New this year to the Michigan Renaissance Festival is a six show called The Adventures of Robin Hood. The actors are part of an acting troupe called The Knights of Iron. They also get the crowd involved to some degree.

The first act takes place in the front gate holding area at noon and then at different areas around Holly grove. It is the classic story of Robin Hood, with Marion, Prince John, the Sherriff of Nottingham, and the Merry Men. The Knights of Iron bring the story alive and add their own mark.

The Zucchini Brothers Danger Theater

Ripe and Green Zucchini are The Zucchini Brothers. 2009 marks their 17th year at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. The Zucchini Brothers Danger Theater show mixes comedy and juggling and fire. There can’t be a Renaissance Festival without fire.

Ripe and Green start out the show with playful banter as they try to draw a crowd. They have been there for a while and have many fans, so it’s not a hard job for them. As they trade jabs, figuratively not literally, they interact with the audience.

The core of the act is juggling. The start juggling six clubs, then seven clubs, then they juggle seven flaming clubs. If they live through that they pick from the ten deadliest items in history and juggle six of them. It is things like Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire and the jaw bone of an ass that Samson used. They juggle those things balanced on a board on a tube that’s on a bench. Very dangerous.

While they are talented jugglers, they are even more talented comedians. Each show can be different because they are experts at improve. For audience members that don’t want to be embarrassed, they need to not draw attention to themselves in any way.

Variety of Entertainment at the 2009 Michigan Renaissance Festival

These are only two of the talented groups make up the entertainment at the 2009 Michigan Renaissance Festival. One of the things that make this so successful is the huge pool of talent. It goes beyond those on the stages too. The Royal Court and the foreign dignitaries and everyone involved makes the Michigan Renaissance Festival a fun place to be.
