Mackinaw City is on the far northern tip of Michigan, in the luxury resort area that is one of the premier vacation destinations in the Midwest. Today the site is a reconstruction of how the fortified village appeared in the 1770's (based on archaeological evidence). There are 13 buildings inhabited by a regiment of redcoats, traders and colonial ladies. The interpreters demonstrate cooing, sewing and domestic arts of the time.
